meteorologist tom kierein is here to tell us more it the forecast for today. i kind of miss the beauty of the snow, but i don't miss driving in it for sure. >> a lot of it melted on roadways, fredericksburg, that area in southern maryland, charles county. they had an inch to an inch and a half. most of it melted on roadways. just accumulating on grassy areas. the storm came so close to us. that's the radar from yesterday. you can see it was just so close. it -- it almost came right into the metro area. in fact, it missed us -- if that storm system had been tracking just 50 miles farther north, we would have had two to four inches right in washington and our northern suburbs as a result. as a result of it tracking 50 miles south, it brushed the metro area. dusting to an inch in the light blue zone. the dark blue zone, that's from four to ten inches. ten inches fell in augusta county. charlottesville had six inches. and now temperatures there are below freezing. look at stanton, virginia. that's where they got some of the heaviest snow. only 22 degrees there now
